The Breast and Ovarian Cancer Specimen Bank Related Investigations
at The North Shore-LIJ Health System
This ground-breaking translational research study, conducted through collaboration between the medical and surgical oncology programs and the renowned Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, is poised to contribute new knowledge and potential treatment alternatives obtained from breast and ovarian cancer specimens being collected through a multi-institutional specimen bank. Aimed at improving survival rates for women with breast and ovarian cancers, the study is the first of its kind to uncover and validate biomarkers for early detection, prediction of disease course and outcome, and treatment response and risk of relapse.
If you or someone in your family has a first generation history of Breast or Ovarian Cancer, you may qualify to participate in this important research simply by providing a blood sample. Contact Mary Keogh-Research Nurse at the Feinstein Institute at (516) 562-3491.
